Blended Retirement
The Blended Retirement System (BRS) is a new system put in place for Soldiers who joined after 1 January 2018, along with certain qualifying Soldiers with less than 12 years of active service or reserve Soldiers with less than 4,320 points who opt-in before 31 December 2018. The BRS lowers the retirement pay multiplier from 2.5% to 2%, in exchange for an automatic 1% base pay contribution to the Soldier's TSP, along with matching contributions up to 4% for a 5% base pay contribution, equaling a total of 10% of the Soldier's base pay contributed, while the Soldier is only putting in 5% of their own funds.
