The Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve (ESGR) is a U.S. Department of Defense program that promotes cooperation and understanding between civilian employers and members of the National Guard and Reserve. Its mission is to ensure that service members can fulfill both their military and civilian responsibilities without conflict.
ESGR provides resources to employers to help them understand the laws and obligations associated with employing Guard and Reserve members, particularly under the Uniformed Services Employment and Reemployment Rights Act (USERRA). It also offers mediation services to resolve workplace issues related to military service and recognizes supportive employers through awards and public acknowledgment.
By fostering a supportive work environment, ESGR helps maintain military readiness while encouraging employers to value the skills, discipline, and leadership that service members bring to the civilian workforce.
